Good introductions to Traditional/Perennial thought
I came up with only a few:

* The Perennial Philosophy, by Aldous Huxley
* The Republic, Plato
* Meditations, Marcus Aurelius
* The Fourfold Root, Arthur Schopenhauer

and of course the original

* The Bhagavad-Gita

Any others? I think anyone attempting the above should have read Will Durant's "The Story of Philosophy"

:)

Introductory Reading
I have some introductory material to recommend:

*Rene Guenon - Crisis of the Modern World
(to followed naturally by its 'sequel'
*Julius Evola - Revolt Against the Modern World
*Huston Smith - Forgotten Truth: The Primordial Tradition (probably more suitable as an introduction than the previous two titles as it is intended to more of a 'mainstream work')
....and...
*Frithjof Schuon - Gnosis: Divine Wisdom
.

Re: Introductory Reading
My addition are two of Manly P. Hall's compendiums:

'The Secret Teachings of All Ages'

and

'Lectures of Ancient Philosophy—An Introduction to the Study and Application of Rational Procedure'

Re: Introductory Reading
Ah, the one author I haven't read. Periodically people keep telling me I *should* however so I will take this as sign, order a copy today and return to discuss this ; )

Once again, I have been forced to profress my ignorance of Manly P. Hall......: )

Re: Introductory Reading
Hi,

Secret Teachings is an amazing compendium, he took around 9 years (full time) of research to write this book. The bibliography is massive! That is what started me out, after rejecting christianity. I read it in 1992.
